SeaWitch Open House, Donation to Animal Shelter and Land Trust
Artist and SeaWitch Studio owner Holly-Marie Haining welcomes you to her annual Holiday Open House on Saturday December 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Waldoboro. This year’s celebration will include two rooms of Haining’s 18th century home where her artwork will be displayed. Immediately upon entering the front door, one will encounter an ‘Indian hole.’ It is the first clue of the age of this late 1790’s post and beam Cape. Although periodically updated, the home has retained many original features such as Christian doors, hardware and a walk-in fireplace in the keeping room where guests can warm themselves by the fire and enjoy refreshments. Come enjoy Haining’s original creations, including some new works, signed prints of Waldoboro-built sailing ships, and other locally-inspired gift items such as her line of commemorative Waldoboro Maritime mugs. Friendship guest artist Patience Sampson will feature her original floor cloths and silk-screened home-goods. Briggs and Lily, the resident pugs and studio mascots will be sporting Sampson’s “Doggie-T” designs. Fifty per cent of the profits from the “Doggie-Ts” will be donated to the Lincoln Animal Shelter where Lily was adopted last December, and twenty per cent of proceeds from the mugs will go the Medomak Valley Land Trust. Always a hit is the return of Big Bob’s Big Dawgs. Big Bob offers the best all-beef jumbo dogs, savory Philly cheese steaks, crispy onion rings and more. Stop, shop, chat with friends over cider and take a few moments to enjoy the homespun simplicity of this holiday season.
